We quote per operation, not from a generic price list: freight, origin charges, customs and last mile are shown separately.
Modes
Three ways to move your cargo by sea.
Less than container load
Your cargo shares a container with other shipments and is consolidated at origin. Charged per cubic meter or per ton, whichever is greater.
Between ports of the same country
Sea transport between ports within one country. Tell us the leg you need when you request your quote.
How to choose
FCL or LCL: a volume calculation.
LCL is best for small volumes or cargo that does not fill a container. As the volume approaches a full container, FCL usually works out better. We compare them for you in the quote.
Signals that change the recommendation
- Pieces over 2.20 m high: they do not fit through the door of a standard container, and High Cube or open top is assessed.
- Pieces over 1,000 kg: they need special handling equipment at the port and at destination.
- Non-stackable cargo: it takes up the full vertical space and can affect the consolidated rate.

How it works
From the factory to your warehouse.
The first steps depend on the Incoterm you agreed with your supplier. Under FOB, the cargo leaves from the port of shipment; under EXW, we pick it up at the plant.
You can follow your cargo on the MyDucis portal.
- Pickup or receipt at originWe coordinate the date, the truck and the type of cargo with our agent at origin; under FOB, receipt takes place at the agreed port.
- Export clearance at originOur agent takes care of the customs paperwork in the country of departure.
- Consolidation or container loadingIf there is more than one supplier, the cargo is brought together at an origin warehouse before shipping.
- Ocean freightAt the rate and route you approve, with the alternatives and their transit times in view.
- Import clearance at destinationCustoms, local charges and transport to your warehouse, with the detail of each charge before it is incurred.
Ocean Incoterms
Four terms that only exist for sea transport.
FAS, FOB, CFR and CIF apply only to sea and inland waterway transport. DUCIS recommends buying FOB or EXW to keep visibility of every cost.
